Frequently Asked Questions Regarding AdBlue
AdBlue is a fluid used to reduce Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions in vehicles equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. AdBlue converts NOx from the diesel vehicle exhaust into harmless nitrogen and steam. AdBlue® is a registered trademark of the DA Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V
We are currently compiling a comprehensive list of all cars sold in the UK that require AdBlue. If your vehicle is a modern diesel then there is a good chance it requires AdBlue. There will be an additional tank installed in your vehicle that will be clearly marked AdBlue. Typically this tank will be located next to your fuel cap, in the boot or under the car bonnet.
You should receive a warning on your car dashboard when you begin to run low on AdBlue. However we strongly recommend you refer to your car manual for a better understanding of your car warning system. If your AdBlue tank is empty then your car could enter limp mode or come to a complete stop.
Cars use approximately 5% the amount of AdBlue as they do diesel. A rough calculation would be for every 100 litres or 20 gallons of diesel you use, you will use around 5 litres or 1 gallon of AdBlue. The majority of cars have a 15 litre AdBlue tank, however this varies up to 23 litres and we strongly recommend you refer to your car manual for clarification.
Refilling your AdBlue tank is as easy as refilling your car with diesel. Once you have purchased your container of AdBlue from www.distribution365.co.uk/vehiclefluids you just need to locate your AdBlue tank, unscrew the cap and fill accordingly, ensuring you replace the cap before setting off on your travels!
There is often a minimum level that needs to be reached in your AdBlue tank before the dashboard light goes off. If you purchased your AdBlue liquid from somewhere other than www.distribution365.co.uk/vehiclefluids then it is best to check how many litres is in the bottle. For example, some dealers, garages and car part stores sell AdBlue in smaller bottles and there may not be enough AdBlue liquid in the bottle to fill your AdBlue tank accordingly. When the minimum level in your tank is reached then the dashboard light will go off. It is the same as putting diesel in your car, if you don't put enough in your tank then the fuel light will continue to show.
Always read the label before using AdBlue. If AdBlue comes into contact with your skin then it may cause irritation and we recommend you use gloves when handling the AdBlue container. If AdBlue comes into contact with your eyes please seek medical attention immediately.
